I-40 closed through Downtown Knoxville: At midnight on May 1, 2008,

a short section of Interstate 40 between James White Parkway (exit 388A) and Hall of Fame Drive (exit 389) will be closed for approximately 14 months for reconstruction.

If you are traveling I-75 from the NORTH turn on I-640 EAST and merge to I-40 EAST to the Smokies

If you are traveling I-40 from the WEST keep going to I-275 NORTH Then use I-640 EAST and merge into I-40 EAST to the Smokies.

If you are traveling from I-40 EAST consider yourself lucky!
